Was no one aware of what happened last weekend? The tiers were set up on 2nd December, and reviewed on 16th. The next review was meant to be 30th, but fortunately the government DID act last Saturday and pushed all those zones into Tier 4... There's no way this will last until 30th with the infectivity of the variant

Strange you just said that as today placed an order on line and several items not available
Morrisons are quite good at that with no milk, chicken etc. Their subsitutes are generally totally opposite to what you ordered i.e you order sugar free and the substitute is one with sugar??? :)

I really am quite ashamed at the Government response to the closure of the Dover -Calais route. If you are planning to park trucks on the M20, Manston and this new parking area which hadn’t yet been finished for 1 Jan 2021 didn’t anyone expect these areas to be used? I can think of various reasons why the Channel traffic could be stopped and it’s not just due to incorrect export/import work. Fishermen, Farmers, Yellow Vests, nearby nuclear stations, state or other sponsored terrorise etc
Not to have basic facilities and food available is an absolute failure of risk planning. The Sikh charity (Khalsa Aid) whose members came from afar as the Midlands have put “ officialdom” to shame. That charity were hard at work in Bristol earlier this year, and were one of the few providing assistance to the Yazidis in northern Iraq, yet few if any have ever heard of them.

I hope that the HGV drivers can get on their way quickly although many will not be back with their families for Christmas Day.

Sprouts today bear no resemblance to those of years ago as far as taste goes, they may look the same but they are not.
Back in the 50's, 60's and such like, Sprouts were indeed a very acquired taste, being very bitter.

Over the years by selective cross breeding they have eliminated the very bitter taste and now we get a rather bland product.

Never the less, they are Ok and rich in Iron and other vitamins.
Hi Damian i had them from home grown you can have my share

So true Clive.
Porta Loos are easily available at short notice. Lots of diesels use urea formaldehyde , ad blue, so I guess the drivers could top up their tanks🤪. However solid waste. Three guesses what Manston will look and smell like next week🤬🤬🤬.
WTF happened to basic humanity? English or French. Standards of the civilised world still matter.

Absolutely right Dusty. If you earmark Manston for 4000 lorries it’s not beyond the wit of man to store the appropriate number if portaloos locally plus have contracts in place to call on local business to supply them and service them. Absolute shambles and one minister even had the gall to say it was a good practice for Brexit arrangements. Well in that case “null pointe” and teachers comment is “ must try harder”. 😷

What a roller coaster this Christmas has been . Certainly not the best by a long chalk. We are still in Tier 2 but marooned on all sides by 3&4. Will these “outsiders” venture into our domain and spread the bugs🤬🤬. Grand daughter near Harrogate spent Christmas Day in hospital. Today at home they tell my son she has C19. All the Yorkshire family now being swabbed and isolated etc. We have left the EU at last. The terms all round from both sides don’t look too bad🤪. North of our closed Border I hear moans from Ms Crankie. Get a grip we are out and that’s that.
There are some things we can’t change like it or not but we can hopefully all get vaccinated ASAP and start enjoying our caravans in the beautiful British Isles, all of it! I have volunteered to help with C19 testing in our local residential homes, mainly the staff who need to be tested twice a week. Work yes but the opportunity to help and hopefully get the vaccination faster maybe😉. Remember the 70s” I’m backing Britain”? Let’s do it and start enjoying ourselves safely and get the economy and caravanning back on its feet.
A very good friend lost a close relative yesterday. That refocuses the mind a bit. Be safe everyone and start planning your touring holiday. Happy New Year💥💥💥💥

No we left the EU on 31 January 2020. We have been in a transition period since then. Amazing how so many aren’t aware of the facts.
You can use your interpretation I'll use mine. We filed to leave in Jan 2020, we have been leaving for 11 months, and we will have "left" when we close the door.

I wont comment further on this aspect in this thread.

Dusty I missed this post. I hope that your Yorkshire family make a speedy and full recovery from C19.

I was a bit concerned about our granddaughter as the virus was rife in her year group despite the schools best efforts. She took matters into her own hands and ceased attendance the week before term ended, ant took a couple of rapid tests plus a full test. The school were excellent as they have their real time online lessons and a library of self streamed lessons for those who miss the real time ones.

At my brothers funeral less than 1/3 of the 29 seated in the council crematorium wore masks. And to my astonishment about the same number were allowed in to stand at the rear. Again most were maskless. . As a Tier 3 area Leicester has been under some form of restriction virtually since lockdown 1 ended, but still the basic precautions were not being addressed.

Prof us guys , you in particular , have always tried to offer accurate technical information on this Forum. I am afraid both my and your last posts were in error. Clive is absolutely correct.
After the December 2019 election, the British Parliament finally ratified the withdrawal agreement. The UK left the EU at 11 p.m. GMT on 31 January 2020.
What has dragged on for the last 12 months are the terms of the agreement.

Not particularly easy to keep track of how many C19 vaccine shots have been administered but Bloomberg’s issue a daily around the world tally. Interesting to see that the United States follows a traditional pattern of generally late for the show, but once rolling there’s no holding back. I make no comment re UK but I don’t think that we will make the predictions for 31 December announced earlier in December ☹️😷

I am very surprised all our emergency services haven’t been prioritised for vaccination. The Police seemed to have been missed out . These guys, NHS and all front line workers surgeries , carers etc should be top of the list!
Two of our daughters friends who are paramedics have been vaccinated in anticipation that they will go onto a vaccination team, but no timescale or location given.

Just had a note from my local dealer. closed until further Covid notice.
However , have you noticed all the adverts for dogs?
Dogs wanted, £500 ish , depending on breed. All those idiots who paid £2500 can’t cope!
FGS . We are dealing with living loving animals. Shame on those who sold at high prices and those who paid🤬🤬

My grandson’s partner had her 4 year old Weimaraner bright down from Scotland a few weeks back. It had been with relatives for quite awhile since she left the Navy. It cost £350 for specialist transport. On arrival the vet said it needed to lose 15kg. !!! Anyway the breed are known to suffer separation anxiety and this one did with abundance. So within a week it was transported back to folks who clearly love it, but really aren’t doing it any favours be letting it be almost 30% overweight. I offered to “ foster” it but go a firm “no way”. The last one I fostered for a short term until she calmed down has been with me now for 13+ years.

The story doesn’t end there. Before Christmas they bought a Wire Haired Vizla pup from a local breeder. I didn’t think much of the idea and even less when told the price; £3500.
So as Charles Dickens would say “Barkis is a willin“ when the honeymoon period ends, if not fostering, some nice country walks with its new found granddad.
