Senator Carolina - Alarm Question and Battery Charger Question

Hi,

We've just taken ownership of a wonderful Bailey Senator6 Carolina. I've got 2 things I cant quite work out and was hoping someone can help me.

First, I had the front roof light open today and the alarm sensor was making a high pitched squeeling noise when the strong sunlight went straight on it through the open roof light - any idea why? The alarm wasn't armed at the time.

Second question, is the battery being charged as soon as you plug the mains in? On our previous caravan (Swift), there was a separate switch to switch the charger on. I cant find one on this caravan, nor in the handbook. It's a 2009 model.

Any help on these 2 points would be much appreciated

Hi Brian,

Taking your second question first - yes it is charging as soon as you hook up.

The first question I'm not sure about but as the sensor is an infra-red sensor I would guess strong sunlight could well cause it to react. Not sure it should be squealing though. I would suggest you call your dealer and see if there's any history with this problem. I can only say that I had the sun shining on my sensor yesterday for a couple of hours with no effect.

Hi Brian We have a series 6 California so things should be similar!

I found that the high pitched squeeling from the alarm sensor was cured by replacing the 9v battery within it.The fault finding bit on page 5-16 of the handbook refers to a "funny noise" not a b-awful squeel!

Re battery charging - assuming the trip and the circuit breaker are "on" and you're hooked up, then the battery is being charged regardless of whether the main/master switch on the control panel is off or on.

Our previous caravan was also a Swift and thing were different!

Thanks both for your advice. Will get a battery tomorrow for the sensor to see if that sorts out the noise - Hopefully it will !

Hi

As soon as you hook up, your system will automatically detect any loss of charge and will charge as required.

As far as the alarm goes Mike is right, you need to replace the 9v Battery

We too have a Baily Senator Series 6 California.
