Service content.........................................

Hi,

I will be putting my van in for service very soon. I should know the answer to my question but, What items should I expect to be serviced. Is there a standard caravan service or does it vary. I have 3 choices. White arches in Rushden, Broad lane near Daventry or Elite in Blisworth.

It's probably more important to know which items wont be covered by the caravan service but need to be done seperately, probably by a different dealer, so as not to invalidate the warranties on those items. The two that spring to mind are the fridge and toilet but I wouldn't mind betting that the cooker and water heater also need to be looked at seperately.

If you use an Approved Workshop (with the flag symbol) they should use a standard printed form - a bit like that used for a car MoT.

they should go through this with you before you pay up, and a good workshop will also include "advisories" which draw you attention to theings which are currently Ok but may need attention soon e.g. tyre age or tread.

Pat give this one a go if you are in the range of Broad lane White Arches etc try www.cchcaravans.co.uk a mobile service and they go thro every thing .

If you need more info the mods can give you my email address as I am Daventry if this helps .

Have a look at the National Caravan Council website where you can download a 30-odd page document detailing the approved caravan servicing schedules. You can also contact them at : National Caravan Council, Catherine House, Victoria Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 1SS

Tel: 01252 796055

Armed with this info you can declare your expectations to the workshop as to what YOU want to be covered.

Hello Pat

The caravan manufacture will stipulate in their instructions to dealers what items should be covered under there banner of a service, but each dealer may interpret the list differently and some will add other checks.

Best to ask each of your prospective dealers what they cover in their service.

They are legally obliged to tell you exactly what items they cover and what you are paying for, if they refuse I suggest you go elsewhere.
