My car is due it’s second service in one months time. It has just done 10,500 miles. I would like to take it to the main dealer as they are fully up-to-date trained, have the right equipment, and can update the ECU if needed. Also I get a cup of coffee while I wait.

So far as I can see, apart from an oil and filter change. They should top up other fluids, (which are already full), visually check belts brakes and tyres, visually check the cabin filter.

They also update the digital service book.

But is it right to charge me £386 for this? They also wanted another £46 to flush the oil out.

Tomorrow I will search for a Mazda authorised specialist.

Mine had a major yesterday at £430 by a main dealership. The minor is £280. It then qualified for the Toyota 12 month/10k miles full warranty.

Is yours classed as a major? If it’s time or mileage dependant then at two years what type of service is it?

As soon as my warranty’s run out I go to an independent place. Main dealers are eye watering and experience with Volvo dealers (previous cars) didn’t instil confidence.

Mazda don’t seem to differentiate between major and minor. It is difficult to determine what is involved, it is like they just expect blind trust. Most of my info on what is scheduled comes from Google.

I have found that Mazda will accept servicing undertaken by other garages. I guess these need to be authorised. I believe they may also have access to the Mazda service database. I will find out more tomorrow.

Perhaps they charge the same for those, like me doing 4,000 per year and those doing 20,000. Though I did read that for high milage they recommend an oil change every 6 months.

Actually, thinking about major and minors. It might be that the dealer network service sales have just quoted for a big service when I don’t really need one. I will ask at the locall dealership.

My service handbook tells me exactly what is carried out in an Intermediate annual/10k or full service every 2 years/20k. Mine had only done 4000 miles since last September but it was given full service. Our Kia Rio has a similar regime..

I used the Hyundai main dealer for my first 5 years as I had a pre paid deal.
After that I used my local garage, They were £100 cheaper, than offered by Hyundai dealer, then I decided to use the Local Halfords Garage,
I could see the work being done, with an MOT. And the full service with Brake fluid change and MOT was just under £300 , service book all stamped etc. quite happy with that. Now I just change the oil every 2 years or 20k miles,, But with doing about 7K a year , it's 2 years.

Like Hutch all our three Kia’s have been serviced annually by our local Kia Dealer. Why ? To preserve with no question the 7 years Warranty.
Cost wise they were not far off £50 per hour. That’s cheap today, now probably nearer £100.
Nine years later , because we used a main dealer for 7 years and the lights went wrong Kia foc dealt with the entire new light replacements👏👏
Our Indie looks after both cars now.

Don't Mazda offer 2 - 3 year service plans? A sneaky way of getting extra dosh is charging you for topping up the windscreen wash even if you topped it up the day before.

You might not need a Full service but will Mazdas warranty be affected if it’s not serviced in accordance with the makers schedule. Would make uploading to Mazdas data base a bit difficult too.

I have a three year service plan for two intermediate services and a full one. It also gives 10% off of MoT plus things like inclusive fuel detergent additive. Overall at today’s quoted prices it is £28 more, but given I don’t expect inflation to go away I should see a saving.

Not forgetting that AA breakdown is included for the year.

One reason I changed from previous Kia and Hyundai brands to Ford was after service prices and Warranty. By using a Ford Approved dealer you get exactly the same service and Warranty at a cheaper price than a Ford main dealer. After the initial 3 year warranty you can extend it up to 6 years for a very nominal fee and having each annual service gives the next 12 months breakdown cover. Also the local Approved garage collects and returns motor for servicing FOC and not charged £18 by a Ford main dealer.
Also if you login to your Ford Account it shows your service history, and clicking on the next service due will show what each service entails.

Sadly not, as Toyota only offer that on new car service plans. One disadvantage of a budget prevowned car 😂😂😂
Not sure why you think that after explaining to you that the Toyota service plan can be used on second hand cars purchased elsewhere. Apologies if I did not make that clear to you.

In my post at #13 I said that I have bought a three year service plan, but in #15 I said that Toyotas don’t offer AA cover on service plans purchased for preowned cars. Service plans only include breakdown cover on newly purchase Toyotas.

Audi servicing for mine is every 2 years so I purchased a service plan covering the first two services. However I messed up on the warranty side as it wasn’t until after taking delivery I realised Audi only give 12 months warranty on their approved cars. As it was a 3 month old demonstrator when I bought it I’d got it in my head it was a 3 year warranty, still amazed I missed that, just got to keep all my fingers crossed on the reliability front…..

Not sure who told you that, but whoever it was is incorrect. This is stated on the Toyota website so a dealer has to follow what Toyota HQ tell them. The Lexus is a 2021 and no issue with AA breakdown cover.

That is bad. Wife bought a Ford Approved use Ford Fiesta early this year at 2 year old. Has the rest of the 3 year warranty and then for a small cost it is covered by Ford until 6 years of age or 70,000 miles. We think this is great cover as probably will be her last car.
What is the Audi Warranty on a new car. Surely the remainder of that Warranty should have been passed to you. Especially as it was their Demo car so they knew it’s total history. If that was Ford it would of been passed on to you.

I’m afraid that you are wrong in this case.

It’s only 2 years amazingly. I had so much going on when I bought it that I managed to overlook the warranty side. Enquiring after I bought it left no leverage for something better.

Two years is unbelievable, when some brands are now 7 years, and even 10 years in Australia.

The next purchase will be after I retire and will be done with a focus on sensibility so warranty will be high on the agenda. I think Audi are more geared to fleet buyers where warranty longevity perhaps isn’t the main focus.
