Shelving in washroom

Hi, we dont have enough cupboard space or shelves in our washroom we are thinking of putting up either a shelf above toilet or a corner unit, has anybody done this, ideas on what materials and fixings is best to use would be much appreciated. Thanks Jenny

Many washrooms have a plastic type bathroom cabinet and similar types are available from accesory shops. That may be suitable for your needs as it is washable and does not rot, as wood may do.

Be careful if you put a shelf over the toilet as it can be easy to bang your head on it when standing facing the loo

We had a Bailey Pegeant Magenta in 1996 and (as we had done it) answered a letter in the CC mag asking how to remove a shelf over the loo

It turned out that the person wanting the information lived nearby and was born in our road!!

But to answer the question Contiplas or similar would do the job

The weight shouldn't be a problem for such a short length and it easily wiped clean

A small lip across the front will hlep to stop things falling off en route

Just a thought. Is this an application for Bond Tight Fastener from Chris at Bonding Solutions?

My free sample arrived this morning. I'm going to try it on some coat hooks on the bathroom door. Amazing how heavy coats can be.

Cheers

we had a spare door(dont ask) and cut it up for a shelf in toilet and some shelving for toiletries in our S.6 Indiana as it was a bit bare .We made it freesatnding and fixed it with silicon so we didnt puncture any seals.Made 4 equal supports up to fix shelf from floor as you cant use a level, bit like a boat.Silicon has held well for toilet roll baby wipes etc.
