I have a 96 Pajero tow car (2.8 shogun) I have been thinKing of swapping it for a later Shogun 3.2 I have been told they have there fair share of problems ( gearboxs/elec faults) My car has been trouble free and still is! One guy told me to keep it unless I want some heavy repair bills for the warrior Whats your thoughts

thanks Martin

I have the petrol version although GLS not Warrior - the car is a world away from the old Mk111 like yours - independant suspension all round, rack and pinion steering, frame in body construction and steptronic gearbox.

It drives so much better and is almost carlike - on reliability mine has been used and abused but has needed only srvice items.

The transmission at 85K is still fautless and all of the major assemblies still perform well with no leaks rattles or groans.

No experience of the 3.2 diesel engine but have heard of no problems - google Honest John's car reviews - If I were to replace my current tow car it would be another Shogun/Pajero. Iv'e tried RangeRovers,Nissans, Jeeps and Izusus but came back the good old Shoggy, it's in a different league.

Hi martin

I have a shogun 3.2 did lwb warrior which i use to tow a twin axle abbey spectrum 540 t/a weighting in at around 1850kg loaded and i love it i used to tow with a 98 3.5 petrol shoggy like yours and the diesel tows it just as well! i have had mine for nearly 12 months the only thing it has had to have done was new front disks which i beleave is a problem with the new shape shogun (heavy on pads and disks) but all car have there problems! hope this helps you p.s what david w said about them being worlds away from the old one is so true the 3.2 diesel engine is around 160 bhp and revs more freely and does 0-60 in 13 seconds compared to around 18.5 sec with the old 2.8 model i also have towed with the 2.8 old shape shogun the new shape is worlds apart.

regards mark

Hi,

I've have had my 3.2 DID SWB Elegance from new since Sept 2004, its only covered 33500 miles, and 90% of that towing.South of France every year, with at least one extra trip to northen France, coming from Cumbria each time, without any trouble at all. I've not even changed a light bulb yet.I would highly recommend a Shogun 3.2 DID.

Regards

Robin.
