Site in Cotswolds

Hi, we are looking to visit the Cotswolds in October. Any suggestions would be welcome - possibly a site with an indoor pool. We are Caravan Club members so feedback on any sites would be brill. Thanks, Helen.

What was wrong with Burford?

We have been there (last year) and do not have any unfavourable memories. We have booked again in a couple of weeks and hope nothing has changed for the worse.

Not done Broadway yet, they always seem full.

We spent last week at Bladon Chains and thoroughly enjoyed it, the wardens were brilliant and always smiling, it's right next to Blenheim Palace and Winston Churchill is buried in the local churchyard.

Went to Broadway last week in July plenty of spaces even at weekends, try ringing the site, dont believe the CC online booking site seems to always show full at most sites, great site but prefer Morton in the Marsh.

Sorry Bill D, not ignoring you!

We were not keen on Burford for a number of reasons. The site is quite a way from Burford, not within striding distance of amenities as are Moreton or Broadway so it meant taking the car to get anywhere (except the wildlife park of course). We felt it was rather out on a limb. Aircraft noise from Brize Norton was a real issue for us - honestly it was worse at nighttime, we would lay in bed and hear the roar of the aircraft and the tinkling of glasses in the lockers - no exaggeration. The layout of the site encourages the children to hurtle round and round on their bikes as there are little mini roundabouts etc. to be negotiated which is great for children. To be fair it has to be said we were there at Easter so quite possibly more kids than normal. Unfortunately there was only one pitch left right by the toilet block and the kids were out there hooting at about 6.30am, unaccompanied in and out the toilets. Early risers filling their aquarolls at the blocks having a chat and a laugh, great stuff but the pitches are such that this goes on right outside your van, not so good if you work full time and go away hoping for a lie in. Despite there being an ample playground/green area teenage football was allowed around the caravans with the wardens not saying a word.

After a few days a spot became vacant so we moved and the situation much improved. My money would be on Moreton as the jewel in the crown for location (telly reception poor though), Broadway as the best kept site and environment, Burford an also ran. There is another small site just at the top of Burford hill which we will try another time. The only good thing about Burford was the close proximity to Eastleach and Northleach, an absolute must in my opinion.

We had a long weekend at broadway a few weeks ago. Site was very well looked after, wardens were very helpful really enjoyed out time there.

Cirencester CC site is within about 15 minutes walk of the municipal pool - 20 minutes back - it's up hill.

For peace and quiet pitch as far from the adjacent school buildings as possible, as there may be dances etc at weekend.
