Hi,

can anyone recommend a site in Devon or Cornwall for next summer, we would like one local to a dog friendly beach and possibly with access to launch an inflatable which is on launch wheels and so can be moved on land but not too far, also it must be one without a club etc and have at least basic disabled facilities and wheelchair access to beach. We are members of the c&cc and have looked in the book but we would prefer to go on recommendations.

Regards

Simon.

Hi Simon

Have a look at porth beach tourist park its 2 mins drive out of Newquay. We stayed there at Easter the park is well run the shower/toilet block is the best we have seen on a site a regular loo of the year winner. The site is very flat and the pitches are well spaced out. The Beach is directly over the road from the site entrance it does not matter which pitch you are on it is approx 2 mins walk and unlike other cornish beaches it is flat and easily accessable to a disabled person it is also in my opinion one of the best beaches in cornwall also as a further plus point the site has a huge car park you can pull up on whilst you wait for the site to open if you happen to travel overnight to cornwall like we do.

There is no club but near the park entrance there is a brill pub with good food and reasonable beer.

We will definately use again hope this helps

Thanks Jon,

we know Porth quite well as the last 4 years we have stayed at Tregurrian C&CC site which was very nice, unfortunately the warden changed last year and the site was not very well run at all, beforehand it was excellent, I believe they have changed again now so that site is a strong possibility. The beaches at Watergate Bay, porth and all around are all very nice although this year we went to Porthtowan, a lovely site but the pitches were far too small, a fire would have wiped out most of the site, we have not yet ruled out Cornwall and will probably end up there next year but we dont know Devon at all.

We will look into Porth and as you said the beach is very flat,

thanks again

Simon.
