Hi there and Seasons Greetings to all.

Thinking about summer 2007.........we are to spend a few days near Rothenburg ob der Tauber Germany, we have been years ago with a small 'van to the site in Detwang but I recall it being small and tight for the large twin axle we now have. I was thinking of the site at Schillingsfurst or the one at Dinkelsbuhl. Does anyone know of these sites.?

Also we are to stay for 5 or 6 days at Salzburg. We are thinking of Camping Nord Sam. Again any information would be of help. Many thanks.

Happy travels BarryB

Barry

We stayed here last year http://www.davidklyne.plus.com/CampingRomantischeStrasse.htm

Nice campsite run by nice people. Its not far from Rottenburg. Many years ago we also stayed at Nord Sam which is very convenient for the wonderful City of Salzburg. I don't recall that you would have difficulty with your van. Only problem we had was noisefrom a nearby railway during the week.

Hi Barry

We stayed at Nord Sam a couple of years ago, very convenient for getting into Saltzburg for buses pass along the road outside the site.

Inside the site access can be a bit restictive due to the trees and shrubs, so long units could have a problem (caravan movers are great). Power is no problem. Nice people. We found a bar at the back of a butchers (turn right out of site) and they took great delight in serving us szitzell?? this is a common dish in Austria.

The site is in a built up area on the right hand side of the road (as one comes from town) the entrance is down a slope so be careful in case another unit is not powering out!!

take a trip to the Bishop's Palace

David,

I thought I would have a look at your web-siteas a matter of curiosity. Can I say how much I am enjoying it.....a bit at a time! We have had a few holidays touring in Germany but before we had a caravan. At that time we drove the length of The Romantic Road visiting Rothenburg where I was fascinated to see a lot of signs in Japanese....obviously catering for the large groups coming from Japan. Also stayed at Dinkelsbuhl which was slightly less commercialised and like something out of the middle ages.We loved it there. Also visited Neuschwanstein Castle at Fussen....what a masterpiece, even though the King bankrupted the country building it and died in suspicious circumstances.I think I'll be reading your web-site for some weeks to come.

Thanks for the kind comments about the website. We do enjoy Germany (as well as everywhere else!!) I am sure if we get the opportunity we will return to explore more of the Romantische Strasse.

Look on the ACSI website www.eurocampings.co.uk/en/europe

Can really recommend site on Mondsee close to Salzburg and Wolfgangsee. Name of the site is Austria Camp and is very good.
