New or used? The new Bailey Pegasus Moderna comes in at 1275. If you search using caravan finder you can put a max weight in as well as choosing your layout

You are a bit limited in choice to fairly basic models but The Bailey Pursuit 430-4 or Pegasus Modena if you want a fixed double or Sprite Alpine 4 or Xplore 574 if you want two singles from new models. You might also look at Hobby On Tour models but they have unusual layouts.
I do not know the kerb weight or where the 1300 figure comes from so cannot comment on whether you could tow a bit more for more choice. Your registration document should show the weight of the car and its towing capacity. If you can post these then you should get better information.

You can also check the max tow weight from the identification plate normally on the door pillar (possibly passenger side). There are 4 numbers and the difference between the first 2 is the max tow weight (2nd: gross train weight less 1st: gross vehicle weight).

Hello Woodlands,

The majority of car manufacturers do follow that process of the GTW -GVW = Max towd load, but not all do and some actually set a greater Maximum towed weight limit that is in excess of the calculation above. However there is a trade off, even with a bigger towed load limit you stiff have to observe the plated limit values, so yes you can (if the manufacture specifies it ) haul heavier trailer but you loose load capacity in the car, to keep within the GTW figure.

My worry here is that the towing weight might be in excess of the cars kerb weight. If this is correct then a figure lower than 1300 kg should be used and indeed depending on your licence it may be illegal to tow a trailer exceeding the cars kerb weight.

Er, Elegance is a kit level, so which model are we talking about?

For the record if we are talking Octavia the OP should take great care over noseweight as the Octavia is quite low rated. The Superb is a different kettle of fish.

So if you wish to follow the 85% guidance you want to stick to a van less than 1165kg max. You'll be pushing it a bit to find the layout you want at this weight. I can't think of anything that we haven't already suggested as far as makes go.
