Still confused Prof.? Contribution #91 sort of explains it.
Freeview is an off-air terrestrial service whence you get the program through your aerial in real time.
Freeview Play allows you to see the program guide for a period (a week?) prior to the current time and date. Ergo you can 'go back' in time (OK, TV time) BUT what you watch in earlier time is fed to you by broadband. If you are at a location where you cannot get broadband of suitable quality or speed you can only watch current programs at the time and date they are broadcast, even if your TV has a Freeview Play facility. Essentially Freeview Play was an earlier form of smart TV operation - in fact you will probably find it difficult to obtain a Freeview Play TV now, such has been the rate of uptake of (so-called) smart TVs.

That is as I understand it, and what I described, but differently to you. In practice you cannot watch and record in real time a program delivered by Freeview's streaming service. Which was the point I originally addressed.

I can record the live Freeview channels, ITV , BBC, Dave, etc up to 4 channel on my receiver / recorder box, and also watch another channel at the same time, which also has the ability to view the streamable channels, is, ITVx, BBC i player, 4, You tube etc.
I don't think I can record streamed channels but I have never tried.

Yep and nothing left to the imagination. No wonder youngsters are glued to the screen!

Quite often if it goes overboard, we fast forward or switch to another film especially if there is a lot of unnecessary swearing involved and we are not prudes!

OH likes watching Silent Witness which I find depressing so spend time doing something else. LOL!
