Now I know why I use my own Sky box and portable dish. No problem and watch and record whenever , whatever I want😎
That is as I understand it, and what I described, but differently to you. In practice you cannot watch and record in real time a program delivered by Freeview's streaming service. Which was the point I originally addressed.Still confused Prof.? Contribution #91 sort of explains it.
Freeview is an off-air terrestrial service whence you get the program through your aerial in real time.
Freeview Play allows you to see the program guide for a period (a week?) prior to the current time and date. Ergo you can 'go back' in time (OK, TV time) BUT what you watch in earlier time is fed to you by broadband. If you are at a location where you cannot get broadband of suitable quality or speed you can only watch current programs at the time and date they are broadcast, even if your TV has a Freeview Play facility. Essentially Freeview Play was an earlier form of smart TV operation - in fact you will probably find it difficult to obtain a Freeview Play TV now, such has been the rate of uptake of (so-called) smart TVs.
Hope that makes sense?
