Sleeping Annexe

Hi

We want to get an sleeping annexe for our awning but the original manufacturers annexes are fairly expensive. Just wondered if anyone has tried these universal annexes? Cant see how they can be waterproof when they dont zip into the main awning. Also concerned about the need to tie most of them to the awning poles and the additional strain this puts on the poles. Any feedback is most welcome

Thanks

We have been considering one since last year, there seems to be good reports on them on this site. We would like to see one on a site and possibly have a chat with an owner before buying one. We will be keeping our eyes open when we go to Cornwall in a couple of weeks time.

hi..we once bought one and the manufacterer was fritiders it was a universal one as well..it had guy ropes etc...and two poles which stood on the inside of awning at either side...it served it's purpose on dry holidays but we did find on raining day if it was heavy downpour in could collect in the middle of annexe and also come through the gaps...so we ended up buying the real macoy for the bradcot awning and we' are quite happy with it...it does pay in the end to get the proper ones.

hope this help with your descisions

Hi Simon

Keep a watch on ebay, I found an exact match for my Bradcot, as new and matching colour for

as with most things you get what you pay for.universal awning annexes are cheap and do the job in certain conditions, but fall below expectations in adverse weather.buy an annex that is recommended for your awning(manufactures make)it might cost a lot more but it will do the job properly, and last a lot longer.

What make of awning have you got? We've ordered a now awning for our new van that is a different make to our old one and we have an unused/new Dorema annex that we have never used. We are not averse to sensible offers. It hasn't got an innertent bit, just the annex.

Hi, we bought a universal annex last year for our main holiday as the kids had friends coming too, it goes up easy and looks the part. First part of holiday it was great then we had very heavy rain the kids got wet during the night, it can't cope with to much rain so if you getting one you may check forcast before you go away. (ours if for sale if interested)

Hi use two bradcot original annexes myself, heard too many horror stories about universal ones and if you are using regularly cheaper in the long run with originals.

Hi Mike

Its just the normal pale grey that matches all the the Doremas I believe although we bought it for a Cardinal in the Bordeaux colour scheme. Its a standard annex rather than the low annex which I think also exists. It has never been put up but has always been kept at home in the canvas bag rather than anything plastic so is not musty from non-use. I paid 125 for it and still have the receipt and would take any sensible offer if buyer could collect from East Cheshire. I don't know how one goes about swopping address on this forum if you are really interested in it. We would have to ask the Mod.
