Socket required for wheel nuts...

Hi,

Being a bit lazy, can anyone save me a trip to the storage yard please?

I wonder if anyone can tell me what size socket I need for the wheel nuts on my Bailey Pageant S7 Provence? I need to pop to Halfords and pick up a 1/2" drive socket to fit the torque wrench I bought, and would like to save the initial journey to the 'van if I can...

Thanks in advance....

Vince.

Hi Vince.

I'll bet you a quid its either 19mm or 17mm!

I'm sure its one of the two but i can't remember which.

If you get no other replies just buy both & take the un-used one back.

Buy the way Halfords tools are brilliant, I'm a bus mechanic & loads of us use Halfords stuff.

Unless Bailey are the only maker not to use the standard bolt size they will be 19mm

Thanks both. I managed to convince myself that I had a set of 1/2" sockets (of course, they were 3/8")!

I will take my chances on a 19mm...

Well those on my Hymer and the previous one are 17mm. Always thought they were the standard Al-Ko ones.

But,Hymer is not made by Bailey............

And yes, import vans such as Hymer , Hobby etc may have different sized bolts, however the question was about a British van

My Hobby has 19mm bolts btw, and a BPW chassis.

All with AlKo or BPW chassis, and must be around 95% of all caravans, have 19mm wheelnuts.

My "cheapo" extendable wheel brace/lever has a socket with 17mm one way - turn it around - and it's 19mm. It has a 1/2" square socket in the middle.

Probably bought it in Halfords but can't remember.

It might be an idea to get one with a plastic outer sleeve. This will stop the socket scratching the lacquer coating off the wheel.

To steel spare wheel bolts are 19mm, the aluminium road wheels are 17mm as stated.
