Spare wheel carrier on 2010 Bailey pegasus 462.

Hi I'm new to forum. Ihave a strange spare wheel carrier on my 462.Instead of the ALKO cage there is a cable (which has snppled) and you lift up the carpet & wind the wheel up & down - has anyone any knowledge of this type as I need a new part with cable

Ring Bailey parts.It's not listed on their site but means nothing.
Otherwise any main Bailey dealer will get the cable for you.

They always say no ! Depends who you get on the other end of the phone!
I'd now try a Bailey main dealer.
And where will they get one ? Bailey of course!
Ridiculous.

The problem you have is that it is a automotive part that has been introduced to caravans, they will more than likely try to sell you the whole thing rather than the new cable .....

Hi Harryy what your describing is something similar to the spare wheel carrier on a ford galaxy/ vw Sharon pre 2002 had to replace one my self had to lift the carpet up and wind down the spare hope this helps 🙂 have you got a Pic you can post to see if it is the came they were very common and widely used by quite a few car manufacturers 😉

Since this is a new design by Bailey perhaps you could explain why the part failed........it may help others with the same piece of kit.

Hi Gafferbill - during a service the spare wheel was loose & wobbly and on attempting removal the cable snapped T he caravan is 2010 and the winch has been fitted since then..

Hi everyone ,after many exchanges with Bailey I believe they have come up with a replacement winch (not cheap) but at least I can hopefully resite the spare wheel. it's cheaper than going back to the standard cage.For anyone with similar problem it's part number 1140219 - has to be ordered through a Bailey Dealer & not Bailey Parts
