Same here, most of the club main sites do not interest us, and as for going to club sites in Europe, best to just do your own thing.
Prior to us departing on our first trip to the continent we looked at their special "newbie" trips and the cost was more than eye watering high so decided to hit out on our own.

However we did also look at sites that you could through the CAMC and again the prices were beyond eye watering. Following a suggestion we joined ACSI and stayed on some very nice sites for less than half the price that the CAMC wanted. Overall at the time it was cheaper for us to holiday in France for 4 weeks than to holiday in the UK for the same period. This was a few years ago.

I joined ACSI, as we were going to France every 12 weeks for 4 weeks, and towards the start and end of the French season, you could get great savings.
I haven't looked recently but there are great sites in the UK that do ACSI deals.

We have not been ACSI members since about 2020/2021 when Covid hit and we saw no point in renewing so no idea how UK sites are ACSI and whether the rates are good or bad.

However if OH is able to cope with our short 2 - 3 weeks holidays this year then France is definitely on the hit list for next year. Probably about June - July using ACSI.
