Speed stickers update

This month's CC magazine has an update to the French 3500 kg speed restictions as discussed in this forum many times in the last year. After many hours of discussion with various French organisations/ ministries they seem to have come to the same conclusion put forward by Lutz and some others many months ago, i.e. The speed limits are applicable but the stickers are not required. They should have just asked us....

You should tell that to the gendarme who stopped me near Gien for a defective number plate light, it was working when we left site an hour before, I got off the fine of 80 euros as I had the 80/90 stickers on the van. He said in that area they were inforcing it rigidly, this was in late July early August. Ten minutes down the road he had pulled over another twin axle van, and pointed out my stickers as we went past to the owner of that van ashe was writing out the ticket. Now they are on the van they are staying. Probably the best six/seven pouns I have ever spent.

I hope the owner of that twin axle is following the other advice (from the C&CC) quoted on this forum which was to complain to his/her MEP. Maybe the few that have put stickers on have attracted the attention of the French police and they now think it must be a legal requirement, otherwise why have people bothered to put them on,
