Hi there

Some times you can press a key and it does not register. I know what you will say proof read it. But it does happen my laptop is always doing it. You cannot go back into the screen on this forum to put any thing right now can you ? My grammer and spelling is also amusing some days. But let us not put off people from using this forum in most cases there asking for help. So lets just give it to them without shamming.

Most of you will be aware that Lutz, a German, is a regular contributor to this forum. His technical expertise is unquestionable but it is his command of English that never ceases to amaze me. I always try to spot a mistake but I don't think I ever have! I bet he has the accent of a newsreader as well. No, I'm not thinking of Huw Edwards. Lutz, I take my hat off to you sir!

Don't delete this just because it looks weird. Believe it or not, you can read it.

Perhaps spelling is not so important.

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?

Sorry, I can't resist it - "apostrophe abuse", should be children's school not childrens school.
Woodlands - you're correct here.

There are two uses for the apostrophe.

1. To indicate a missing letter - as in 'don't' or 'won't.'

2. To indicate possession - as in this case, it is the children's school. The one exception here, where many people fall down is that 'it' does not warrant an apostrophe. For example 'The dog lost its collar.' Although the collar belongs to the dog, there is no apostrophe here. It's only has an apostrophe when it is shortened for 'it is.'

Clear?

Mac
