Sprite 4SB tv reception

I've noticed that when the command panel is switched on (illuminated) that the TV reception gets worse, I've also notices that when I hold the TV ariel the reception is better than when I let go. Could this be an earth fault somewhere?

Unlikely as the aerial is plastic encased and you are not earthed.
It would be helpful to know the make and model of aerial and make and model of aerial amp - it gives a much better starting point.

It's all the standard fit vision plus 2 amp and a status antenna. The pole that the antenna is mounted on is metal, when I touch that the signal improves. There are other things like the TV signal getting worse when the command screen is on or the awning light is on which makes me think it's not just related to the tv

That sounds like you have a broken connection to the cable screen. If they have supplied one use the F-type back-to-back (barrel) adapter and use it to connect the aerial direct to the cable feeding the TV socket and see what happens. In the 500 series with purple/blue writing on the aerial the amp is in the VP2 inside box; on older types (with red writing on the aerial) the amp is inside the aerial, a common fault there being loss of the power feed to the amp.
Do some checks and come back with your findings.
I suppose the amp has a working light on it to show it is active?
