Has anyone any experience of these cars for both towing and solo use. See in Saturday's Telegraph that Motorpoint are offering brand new models (does not state whether pre-registered by them or first reg. tax, etc. incl. in price) for £12999 whilst the list price is over £19000. Either it is a damn good bargin or they are not selling.

They dont get the greatest write ups but for that money you cant go wrong,i think thjey have the old mercedes 2.7 diesel engine in them.

As for seth's friend losing 15k in 2 years that is not bad it does depend if he got anything off the new one ,cost to change etc, give top whack for your old motor but dont discount the new one,you would expect at least 8k off the list price of a new v8 diesel!

Take care here, the Ssangyong company has recently gone to the wall. I may be wrong but please check so you don't end up with a duffer.

Not towed with one but had a 24 hour test period and was very impressed.

The one I was given was fitted with the 6 speed auto gearbox and was ultra smooth.

My only 2 concerns were :-

* resale value (which isn't a problem if you get it cheap enough)

* availability of spares, especially now.

Colin, we have the sister car the 4x4 Kyron. Whilst it is not a disco etc it tows well, drives ok, we have just got back from a 10 day 1800 mile jaunt to the south of France with no problems. We have only had the Kyron 2 months and have covered 4000 miles in that time with no issues, we didnt buy new it was a dealer demo and heavily discounted fully kitted out.
