ssangyong rodius

PC mag published a review of this in the April edition - didn't read it but it has the same Merc engine as the Sportage/Tuscon/Kyron and a massive kerbweight so it has good potential I would have thought - got to be the ugliest MPV on the road though!

didn't get a very good review overall, they recommended you put your hard earned elsewhere if I remember rightly.

Hi David,

The Tuson/Sportage do not have the Merc unit fitted. These are Hyundai/Kia home grown units. Yes on the Ssang Yong they are Merc derived, but not the kia,s or hyundai.

Well Rob if that's so you'd better tell 4x4 Mag cos they rekon that this engine is a Merc third generation cr and to quote from their June edition first drive of the Kyron " variations of this diesel engine have found their way into Kia's Sportage and Sorento, plus the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe, While Mitsubishi also has a 4x4 tie in with Merc powerplants"

Mind you my Granny always said don't believe anything you read in the papers and maybe mags should also be added to that.

The term the Kia dealers use when refering to the engine is "manufactured in cooperation with Merc" or words to that effect.

Surley they would be asking for trouble if this were not the case
