We know the layout of the Britanny Ferry terminal but have not tried to park up in a caravan on the departure area. We would like to arrive late the night before our morning embarkation.

Dont want to find a nearby site in case there are restrictions on early morning exit from site

Has anyone experience of this - is it possible should (can) I get permission from Britanny Ferries????

would appreciate advise

thanks

We tried to do this last year and were told to move on.

There is a car park at the quay side right next to port that you can drop the legs of the van until the morning, we were the only caravaners but there were several motor homes.

No toilets avaiable here!

Hope this helps?

Hi Les

We where also told we could not park on the port and also found the carpark Allyson used, but at the time we would have been the only caravan on the car park and didn't feel very safe.

We followed signs from the port to a camp site in the town, when we arrived it looked like a Refuge site with home made tents and very old vans.so we went out of town and found a lovely site with a early leaving area this was only 10mins from port with toilets, showers etc.

If you go via Roskoff to Plymouth (not very far from St Malo) then you can easily park up in their overnight car park, although it may be very busy in the peak season. Just take plenty of water with you, as there aren't any facilities.

Hello Allyson, Andrew and Mike,

Many thanks for your help. We will try to find a better place than the large Car park (which is difficult to exit when full)

Andrew - can you remember the name and/or location of the site with the early leaving area?

thanks again

Les

Hi Les

Had a trawl on the net and found the site at last it was called Camping de la Fontaine,we found it by accident but it is more than adequate for a overnighter.

We have stayed at this site for the last two years on our return to the UK. No problems with getting off the site early and is around 10 - 15 minutes from the ferry terminal.

In fact last year there were around six english vans pulling off the site in order to get the ferry. Most of the sites for one night stays are near to the entrance anyway so no major issues with getting off the site.
