In the UK, digital tv signals are broadcast in the same frequency range as analogue so no immediate change of aerial is necessary.
Digital is more sensitive to signal quality and some domestic aerials may need replacing to get an adequate quality of signal. Caravans with low mounted aerials are particularly subject to digital signal degradation because there's more intrusion on line of sight than domestic roof mounted aerials.
Many caravanners already regard the Status 315 as ineffective on analogue unless in a strong signal area. Given that the UK is switching off analogue, region by region, 2008-11, purchase of a Status 315 is pretty pointless. There are estimates that 60% of UK campsites WON'T be able to receive an adequate digital signal, because they're predominately in rural areas.
A directional aerial, preferable on a mast that can be raised, would be a more sensible purchase although a portable satellite system would be more effective.
The switch off of analogue is driven by EC Directive but the timetable for each country is different.
