Hi all, we have just got back from a lovely holiday in Pembrokeshire, with our new Hymer nova and Kia sorento.

The problem is, we have picked up 3 really nasty stone chips on the front of the caravan, at approximately window height, i am not sure if they are from other vehicles or from our own car (i think the latter)

Any body experienced similar, or any ideas how to stop it in the future?

The sorento has really shallow mudflaps and the Hymer an alluminium front, not a good combination!

Any help, greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Andrew.

Hi i had the same problem i have a 2006 swift 540 towed with a shogun sport what i did was to buysome cheap rubber mudflaps and extend the existing mudflaps by about 6" this seems to cut down on chips however i have come to expect some chips

Andrew,

We also have a Sorento, and asked Kia about deeper mud flaps....with no success. We read on the Kia Sorento web-site about someone fitting Vauxhall Frontera mud flaps .This we also did....they are much deeper and perfect for the Sorento.Previously we had found that when the roads were wet that the entire front of the 'van got plastered with filth. This has now been considerably reduced,so it must also stop stones being flung up as well.

Good luck .

Hi Andrew,

Sorry to hear about your problems with the Hymer. When we recently picked up our new Hymer from the dealers a vanner had brought his new Hymer in for a price for repairs regarding exactly the same problem as you have.

When talking to him he said the problem lay with his Shogun only having short mud flaps.

The price for the stone chip repairs were about
