Good day folks

Im am looking to leave my van in storage in France next year to avoid the long haul from Inverness, can anyone suggest a site between Calais and Brittany that is preferably British owned and has good indoor storage. I would be happy with Eastern Loire as well.

Thanking you in anticipation

Tom

Hello. There is a nice site which stores near Bayeux, It is English owned and the costs are 300 Euros per year. I live in France but I store my caravan there, it is an excellent site. The email address for the site is http://www.camp-france.com/contact.html

The site is named- Le Picard.

I also used the same site as William from around 2000 to 2002 when we had 2 caravans i.e. new one at home and old one in storage in France.

We were very satisfied with the site and used it both for staying at and storage.

We only terminated the arrangement because we were not making enough use of it too justify having two caravans on the go at the same time and brought the caravan back to be part of a double trade in for a new caravan (the one from France effectively paid for a motor mover but it was over 10 years old with no heating or hot water)

We, too, have thought a number of times about storing on the mainland. We've also wondered about keeping a small, old one in France, as most of our contiential camping is done outside and I would be interested in people's experiences. However, I think we would want to be nearer to Calais. We could then take advantage of special crossing offers and also have the flexibility of going anywhere in Europe without having to make a detour to collect the van. It wouldn't take many crossings a year to save the price of storage. Does anyone know of storage in the Pas de Calais/Nord region?

Just a note of possible alarm - I, too, was interested in leaving our 'van in France (Loire), with an English run site (suspect they were new to it !). However, I was unable to establish satisfactorily the position relative to INSURANCE. If you are English insured, I believe that some insurers expect you to be WITH THE CARAVAN AT ALL TIMES (obviously there are limits, BUT insurers by nature are not friends of the insured, and can be guaranteed to use every loop hole they can find to wriggle out of a claim. SO CHECK before your commit !
