Morning All

Having retuned our van back to storage for a couple of weeks, last night I went down to carry out a small repair.

The adjacent van had returned and parked that flipping close, I cannot open the door on my van, while his door side he has about 4ft of space.

I contacted the site owner, answer I'm getting fed up of this I tell everyone to park correctly on their own pitches.

This was not the answer, as this is the only cassoa site in our area and its pretty close I do not want to move, and I have an end pitch, dead easy to park and pull out, anyone know what if any rights we have...

Hello Richard,

Your rights are basically described in the contract agreement you have with the site owner.

If your contract says that you have a defined space in which to park your caravan, and that it allows you to have proper access around and inside the caravan for maintenance and preparation, and you are unable to avail yourself of that space because of other people ignoring the site rule, then technically the site owner has breached his side of the by not supplying the space agreed.

For reasons explained elsewhere on the forum, if the site has security controlled entrances, any one on site is there with the site owners permission, and thus the site owner is responsible for their actions as if they were employees. So if any caravan owner parks in contravention of the sites rules, it is the site owners responsibility and duty to enforce them.

I can understand that you don't want to fall out with the owner, but at the same time if you are not receiving the service you are paying for then you should be asking the owner to resolve the difficulty. Refer to your contract, check what if any breeches appear to have occurred, and politely bring them to the attention of the owner.

Hi Richard,

I can totally understand your frustration, as we had to move our van to another site due to sandwich caravan parking last week. You say its the only Cassoa site in the area, but to be totally honest i dont think Cassoa really stands for much at all ,as our caravan was on a gold site and it was rubbish. (read My bad storage post ). To avoid your van getting damaged, i would ask the site owner to get the other van moved across or find another site.
