STOVES Cookers Missing bits

Hi All,

I seem to have a problem with my Stoves Vanette 9000 Oven. We tried to cook a pizza a few weekends ago and found we had to have the oven on for ages...It just didn't seem to get up to temperature. When I had a look at the flame all looks okay...but I noticed that there are two 1" holes either side at the top back of the cooker and we could feel a lot of hot air coming out from just above the grill opening. It looks to me that there are some bits missing which cover these holes and possible act as baffles, but I dont know what should be there if anything.

Is there anybody out there that can shed light on this problem I would be very gratefull. Buy the way it didn't look like the previous owner ever used the oven and grill. Caravan is a 1999 Elddis Crusader storm.

I have left my E-mail address in case someone can send me a photo of the inside of their oven to compare.

Thanks everyone

All I can suggest is to have a look oon the Elddis web site and see if you can download the manual for it or you could do a google search and see what pops up.

Hi Martin, I have the manual but it doesnt show the inside of the oven, it is also about as much good as a Tit on a billy goat. Can't find anything on google regarding my oven. But thanks for your input.

Hi Dr - I have the same model in my 98 Abbey - but it is in store! I will probably be going there in the next few days so will check out the holes and try to take a picture for you.

Cheers - John

Hi John. Received your photos. As you said my cooker has the same unfinished holes at the back of the oven.....very strange...but obviously as it should be. Perhaps I'm expecting to much from a caravan cooker. Thanks again for all the trouble you went to regarding taking the photos you are truly a nice person.

Helo Dr Martin,

I am always wary of of asking for this type of advice on a forum, as you do noty know if the respondant is technically capable of offering the correct advice.

For matters where there is some doubt about safety such as in your case, the proper solution is to check directly with the manufacture of thier agent. This will probably require a visit to the local dealer with the van so they can check properly.

Heaven forbid, but if you were to have a fire resulting from the gas cooker, and it were established that you had doubts about its safety, yet you continued to allow it to be used with out having checkd properly, that is criminal act under Health & safety laws.
