I have an Abbey GTS Vogue 416 of 2004 vintage with concertina blinds that close upwards. At the weekend one developed a problem as the cord appears to have come off,how do I fix this,do I need to take the whole cassette off if so how do I get to the two screws at the very top behind the curtain pelmet.

Have you removed the little covers to check that there are screws in there?

We recently turned ours the other way up, and there were no screws in the 2 top holes.

Jennifer why did you turn it the other way up,I like being able to have the blind part up to let light in without folk being able to see in.

Anyway, job done with thanks to Mick from Swift. In my case all eight screws were there which meant using a cordless drill screw driver bit held in mole grips, and by feel only undo them quarter turn at a time (2 inch screws took a long time, they have not gone back in)

Getting the cord back on was still a little difficult but possible with the cassette flat.

So take care when opening or shutting the blinds because if the square window catch fastener is not straight it fouls the blind which tilts and lets the cord come off.

We turned 3 of our blinds, the 2 side ones at the front and the kitchen one.

We found it annoying that we could not shade the sun (which after all does come from high up) when sitting eating, We had to pull the blind totally up....not sensible or good. Now we can just pull it a little down.

The kitchen one we turned so that we can shade a little from the top but still keep the blind away from cooking and washing up splashes.
