Swiss Road Taxes

Help please, we are in Europe and planning on visiting Switzerland but cant work out if we need to pay heavy goods road tax as well as a motorway vignette. We are a 4x4 towing a caravan. All advice welcome, were planning 3-4 weeks there.

cheers

Unless your 4x4 or the trailer (not combined, but individually) weighs over 3.5 tonnes, you only need the motorway vignette. Heavy goods road tax only applies over 3.5 tonnes and towing vehicle and trailer are treated separately.

Hi

You will need to purchase a motorway vignette for both the car and the caravan, which is why I am giving Switzerland a miss on my journey around Europe.

Cost is Swiss Francs 40 for Car & 40 for Caravan = approx

Met some people, who had been to Switzerland, at Guines last Monday. They told us the toll for Car and Caravan came to total

Wow, sadly we are committed but if we are paying that much will make the most of it and at lease fuel is cheaper!! will give austria a miss maybe to avoid paying further fees.

thanks for the info
