Hi,

I am taking my Boxer to Spain and Portugal for 3 months from September.

I know of the Pet Passport, vacinations, worms and ticks.

can anyone add any notes of things to note?

What happens on the Ferry(Plymouth-Santander)?

What dried dog foods are available? Not wishing to pack 3 months supply.

will she be welcome on sites?

what day to day things do we need to be aware of.

will she need a muzzle, or is it only the "dangerous" breeds?

etc

please advise

thanks

I can't help you much but I've heard that on the ferry you are allowed to go onto the car deck to see your dog and give it a stretch of the legs. Otherwise they have to stay in the car. There's a German guy who brings a boxer onto the site where we spend the winter in southern Spain. We see him taking it out most mornings and he just has it on a lead. Don't worry about dog foods - the local supermarkets all have a large selection of tins and bags of dried. Many of them cheaper than UK prices. Incidentally, all the sites charge for dogs - usually 1 to 1.5Euros per day.

The ferry has kennels and you can book these as I have booked the kennels for my two german sheperds. You can also go and see the dogs at times arranged

Hi,we take our dogs to france and spain (when its not to hot). no trouble with food - his normal bakers mixer and pedigree wet pouches in most big supermarkets. welcome on all sites we have used, even found some in spain with a dedicated dogggy shower! great after days on the beach, tho some beaches are off limits to dogs. We are off to France this sunday for six weeks, can't wait. Hope your dog has a great time.
