Hello all...

Am researching a suitable site for our permitted ration of 8yrs old grandson caravan vacation next school summer holiday.

Last 2 years we have gone for our allowed 3 nights with him to Longleat which was Brill because of the co-joined facilties on tap so to speak. Prev year was at Ferry Meadows which again went down as Brill due again to all the adjacent facillities nearby and plenty of on-site play oportunities.

But we are at at a loss what to do this year which would need to be similar i/e close by childrens attractions interesting to an 8 year old and a site heaving with similar age group youngsters.....

Looking for 3/4 days stay (which is all we are allowed, sad to say) in summer school hols about 100 mile radius of Warwicks. Are CC & CCC members but would consider non club sites also. He can't play in water anymore due to ear grommets and we also will have a young springer to accomodate.....

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Many thanks and good caravanning in the new season to you all.

Hi Paul, I would think Blackwall plantation near Ashbourne would suit your needs. Great walks, cycling and the site is one great hide and seek/game area for kids. Can't go wrong.

Some suggestions:

CC AS at Bridgnorth. Near by you have severn valley railway, ironbridge gorge museum, (see Decembers caravanning and camping club magazine), Hoo Farm at Telford, Telford town park. Opposite the site, walk up Russell Close, is Stanmore country park for the dog. If this site is too dear try Presthope, High Onn (best dog walk I've seen)(CC) or Ebury Hill (CCC)

CCC site at Wolverly gives you severn valley, bewdley safari park, wyre forest with its playground. Site is by canal, not dangerously near, where you can walk to Kidderminster. For the dog and your exercise try Hartlebury Common, south of Kidderminster, or Clent hills, about 5 miles towards Birmingham. With the latter the cafe on Minnims car park serves the best bacon sandwiches in the Midlands.
