Taking Pets on the Portsmouth/Caen ferry - vets near the port

Having just arrived back from a holiday in France and taking our dog Rosie for the first time, I can advise that there are a couple of excellent English speaking vets in Ouistreham, close to the port, both having good car parking space but not large enough for a car and van. Firstly we used Dr Francois Borel (details on the Brittany Ferries web site) tel: 0231974141. He speaks excellent English and was great with Rosie. The charge was just over 42 Euros. There is also another larger practice nearby. Clinique Veterinaire, 1 Avenue Dawson, 14150 Ouistreham tel: 0231965582. The latter will even make an appointment for passport work on a Sunday but you do have to phone and book in advance for this. Hope this helps. You can contact either practice without hesitation. They are great.

Steve, Thanks for this very useful information. We are taking our dog for the first time and will be travelling back via Ouistreham in late September. In 30 years of continental touring with the caravan, nothing has given us more to think about than the dog's needs, so a thread like this answers some of the questions. Thanks. Phil
