a small battery like a smoke alarm and no i am not looking in van as in pj,s sorry
 
I know what I'd do if someone attempted to steal my caravan, I'd plug the hitch and all the locking devices into the mains. Sod their Human Rights, it's all they deserve,

Then I'd string them up from the nearest lampost and hit them with a cricket bat!!

hi mine is attached to the house alarm via the pannic button, i have a 12 s socket which is on the panic button, the caravan is plugged in to the circuit and if removed sets the panic button off ! i just reset the button when we go away, most alam fitters could sort this type of fitting out for you if asked .
