Liz you will need more than a mop and bucket to clean up all the doo dahs that are being thrown on that site. I do not even think of going there any more as I don't want to be sued for libel/slander or deformation of characture. Stay well clear if I was you.

I also agree clive but with a bit of saddness thrown in.
however a forum is to use a anaolgy a bit like a plant it starts from a seed and grows and then when it get too big for it pot it starts to wither ,then the only way to bring it back is a bit of harsh pruning and re-potting.
this is what has happend to this site and now may it continue to grow and flourish into something better than it was before.
the saddness is that some of the original members have expressed their views and wish not to return and that is up to them in the end (and the site admin of course) but there departure sad that it is, should not affect the rest of us who wish to stay.

As one with whom you have crossed swords in the past (I certainly don`t agree with your politics, but respect your right to air your views), I didn`t (and don`t) have a problem with a forum being moderated.
What I did (and do) have a problem with was the language, innuendo,tone and accusations flying from the `moderator` (and apparently I didn`t see/read the worst of it) who should remain above the bickering, not drag it down to new levels.
Consequently, I have chosen not to return to a site operated by an individual for whom I have lost all respect, but everyone has different ideas as what is acceptable behaviour. I simply think it is not unreasonable to expect to be treated as you would treat others.
I have not `returned` to this site as I never went away, and wouldn`t encourge others not to return to the other place as its for them to make their own minds up, but TBH if that was the only caravan forum on the `net, then I`d prefer to keep my own councel.
Anyway, all the best Colin,let me know how the XJ resto progresses.

Isnt that what was happening over here to make you all go over there to begin with? I remember people saying about the excessive moderating here and how nice and relaxed the CoC forum is compared to this site.

Stop criticising everyone, we can all use both forums, if you decide not to use both its your loss, I personally like this forum and i like the personal touch that Gary brings to the other forum, i also respect the professional way in which this site is moderated.
I will use both. I hope everyone does the same.

Time is a wonderful healer, & I think in time (I hope) people will forgive & forget.
The father of a guy I used to work with was a Jap P.O.W. during the war. My mate against all his feelings towards the Japs went out & bought a Nissan car, he said that when he bought the car he had to go to his fathers grave & ask forgiveness, but that life must go on & that the car was good value for money.
So to every one that was affected by what happened on the other forum, I just hope that in time you will be able to make your peace.

PTo a certain extent I agree with Angus, as the administrator you cannot go off at people and ban them if you are acting the same. Well I suppose you can if you own the site and have the tools but does that make it right? It was a bad decision for Gary to hide and he has admitted that which is admirable. The above I was prepared to forget but one issue I wasn't.
Gary sent me an email asking if I was going back. I've been in discussion with him by email discussing my concerns and due to him being inflexible, which he has a right to be because it's his site, I won't be back. Like Angus I never stopped posting here although it was infrequently because after Gary, I felt I was busy probably put the most into the site to make it a success. I also pointed out that as prolific posters the banned members were bound to eventually hit controversial subjects rather than a member who posts one line per week with no content.
Finally I would like to thank Gary for his belief in me over the evil email accusations and I wish him all the best with the site and I hope it goes along without incident in the future.

i have now been deleted on there now by Gary,no complaints,had no intention of using it anyway.Shame tho being in Daventry it had potential for local meets,c'est la vie

At 15:15 today, a very very serious rtc happened outside my place of work, I wont go into too much detail but I saw the back end of it.
Then on the way home with a station manager, we came across another rtc, not too serious but, well, you know.
So I'd just like to say, it's only a caravan forum (not this one). Today I saw a man 'die' and brought back to life in front of my eyes, he's in theatre now.

That certainly puts it into perspective Lisa, you are right, on the scale of it, petty squabbles are very minor on the scale of importance.
I saw a guy being resuccitated (sp?) on the side of the road, it stayed at the front of my mind for a long time, i learned some time later that sadly he didnt make it, and there was me swearing for being stuck in traffic for an hour. if only he had been an hour late.
