Thetford cassette cleaner works well - but may need several applications to clear the build-up - the size sold will do 3 applications

As per Roger, the Thetford one si probably the best. Once you have doen the initial clean out, it is recommended that it is done annually.

Without going into detail, caravanners who need to take significant amounts of prescription drugs may well find a lot of limescale deposits around the bowl and inside the cassette - this is often due to a combination of the chalk in tablets as their base "carrier" and the acidity differences caused by some conditions/treatments - this can be very noticeable even in soft-water areas where limescale doesn't normally occur.
Thetford cassette cleaner includes a descaler.

In addition to Roger and Surfers advice.

The purple Thetford product works very well with warm water. I leave mine for at least 48 hours and repeat as advised earlier.

Thoroughly rinse, spray all moving parts and the seal with a generous dose of silicon spray.
Then add 180 mls of the Elsan Blue directly to the bottom of the tank. It keeps it smelling sweet ready for the next use.
