Thetford Cassette Toilet

We have a Thetford 250 toilet in our van and want to change the seat and lid from ceramic to plastic. Can't work out how to remove the old seat. There are two plastic screws holding the seat to the bowl (see photo), accessible via the rear of the toilet, but I cannot budge them. Any tips/advice on how to proceed?? TIA

It may be possible they have had some thread lock put on them. So may be worth heating them up with an Hair dryer on its highest setting as this usually lets them undo,softening the locking sealant,
