Thetford cooker hob wont stay lit

Welcome to the forum Mercedes. Thermocouples are vey easy to fit and often standardised. So you may not need an expensive original replacement. But it does depend on how accessible both ends are.

But first check the jet is nice and clean.

Most caravans have the hob sitting above the oven. The oven needs removing to access the underside of the hob and the fasteners. You also have to disconnect the gas supply to the hob. Once out flip over and you have easy access to change the thermocouples.

BUT you must know how to disconnect , reconnect and safety check for secure gas tight joints. Some 12v and 230 v wiring is involved.

I changed the thermocouple on an Avondale and you could access the underneath of the hob through the grill pan, nothing to remove at all other than the thermo c I wanted to change, must have took a few minutes to remove old and fit the new, if my memory serves the only tool I needed was a 10mm spanner.

Was that on a Spinflo?

Haven’t had the Avondale so no idea of make I just thought it’s worth a look under through the grill to see if thermocouple is visible.

BP, on the Thetford Spinflo the grill is an integral part of the oven. Sadly you cannot access the underside of the hob via the grill

if one of your burners is not staying lit this could either be the thermocouple for that particular burner or the microswitch that tells the system that the glass lid is open or closed. Either way the Thetford part number is SSPA0600 and will cost about £70. If you are a competent DIYer and can diagnose the fault to be the glass lid microswitch you can get these off of eBay for about a £5. Just search for Thetford Glass Lid Microswitch Kit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134134470584
