I have recently found out from a caravan engineer that these doors actually leak at the insert panel and not the actual seal itself. The water enters the caravan by running over the seal at the bottom . I have ordered a marine hatch of similar size from Amazon and will see if it fits . I would assume that these doors have ruined many a good caravan and am am surprised that thetford still produce such a poor product. A new thetford door costs £79 . Marine hatch £80.

What Thetford door? Door for the cassette compartment is part of the body of the caravan?

It's held on with screws and butyl tape . It's a (Thetford door 3) . If in good condition , the insert panel can be sealed with silicone .
I am currently having to change my bathroom floor and won't run the risk of even a new one leaking again .

Amazingly Thetford still sell the door frame and outer door without the inner section! A case of seal it yourself 😂

That is the surround and not the door. No wonder I was confused. LOL! As said the infill is from the cut out as every caravan is different.

Rather than silicon I would use Captain Tolleys leak sealer. It will penetrate very fine gaps and cracks. Used in the marine market, and it does work. Cheaper than new marine hatch at £80.

the other issue I believe is that the manufacturers fit them with the hinge at the bottom, therefore with the rubbish locks fitted they never properly seal. I have had this issue with my caravan, my "fix" was to fit some fiamma awning gutter above the locker. not had any issues since whatever the great british summer has thrown at us

I think that's all they ever made - the idea is to use the piece cut out from the caravan sidewall to infill the door frame.
Well well. I have the Wyoming at home ready for Sundays departure.None of the exterior “doors” contain the Bailey aluminium panels. They are all white mottled plastic stuff!!🤪
