Thetford Loo Flush

Hi
Our Thetford loo has stopped flushing. When the button is pressed you can hear the pump running but no fluid comes out. There is plenty of fluid in the tank and no sign of it leaking. I have made sure the pipe is clear by passing a wire down as far as I can from the loo end. The van has not moved since it last worked. Any ideas?

My Only thought here is that maybe the pick up pipe from the tank has come adrift. Depending on which Thetford Loo you have its not the best job in the world ie C250 removal ok . fiddly to put back

Hi James.
This has happenned to me a couple of times with different vans, both with blue button Thetford flush systems.
The motor can be heard but no flush fluid appears, the cure is very cheap and simple.
The tank just needs a bit of a light thump...really, I kid you not.
Imagine a clock face on the tank (the part between the seat and the blue button).
Now guess where Nos 4 and 5 on the clock would be and give the tank a bit of a thump while holding down the button.
You should hear a difference in sound as air in the motor is replaced by water and Hey Presto, the flush will work.

I know this sounds a "wind up" and I would not have believed it, had it not been shown to me by fellow forum user - Milkybar.

Regards
Brum

have had the same problem after draining the system , when i go flush the loo motor whurs but no flush, solution i have found is simple fill the flush tank to the top with water and hey presto flush works.

Thanks Brum, it worked a treat. 2 thumps from the better half and the flush started working again. Funny how the simple answer is often the right answer. Nice 1

When we drained our toilet and refilled it after cleaning when we came home to give it an extra rinse the same thing happened. I couldn't belive it when after a couple thumps it worked at treat.
