thetford n80 problem

Hi all
Can anyone give me any advise on my thetford n80 fridge, when lighting on gas, ignites straights away but as soon as the button is released it goes out, I've checked the nut at the top of the thermocouple, which is tight but looking at thermocouple where its in the flame it dosent glow I've tried adjusting to no avail, do these thermocouples fail.
Any advice would be appreciated. Pete

Hello Pete,
Yes thermocoples can fail.
And the fact you have asked the question suggests you are not trained in gas fitting. For your safety, and that of your family, arrange to have an approved gas fitter see the fridge (do not remove it from the caravan) and establish what is necessary.

Hya John
I'm no idiot I wouldn't touch something that I wasn't 100% certain with, I have an understanding of how they work and what to look out for, just wanting to know if it could be the thermocouple that can fail before I call an engineer.
Cheers Pete
