I understand that Thetford have discontinued the above product.

Can anyone recommend a similar product that will get rid of the black bits in the toilet water tank?

Many thanks!

Make up a weak solution of water and bog-standard (forgive the pun) bleach, pour it into the Thetford header tank, leave for 12 - 24 hours then drain. Be careful, obviously, when draining, because you can easily splash the bleach solution on yourself. You will find that the "black bits" will have gone. In future, just use plain water in the flush tank...don't add the pink solution as that is the worst culprit for creating the dreaded "black bits"

Hi Susan

This is a regular problem.

"Friendly Dealer" 5 1/2 years ago suggested this solution. It works!

Charge the flush tank with a triple dose of Aqua Rinse, leave for 48 hours and flush through. Should the problem persist, repeat the exercise, this time adding 100gms of Citric Acid (available from most chemists, or wine making shops), to the triple dose of Aqua Rinse.

Since then I now use Elsan products and never had a problem.

Cheers

Wouldnt recommend the use of the blue blocks, they never break down properly and block the pipes, also the pump doesnt have a strainer on the end so possible damage too?
