Have you noticed how, whenver you are about to go away for a main holiday, the preceeding three weeks drags like crazy. This leaves you thinking you have all the time in the world, and the last two days before you travel becomes manic.

Its like that in our house at least.

Quite the opposite, we're away near Settle, N. Yorks, been here a week and its just disappeared! And nearly longest day, summer disappearing fast, don't wish your/our time away. Apparently winters will be shorter soon with climate change, hope so!

Got back yesterday from UMM Cornwall, had a lovely time, only a couple of showers, had a great day at the Royal Cornwall show,

Got back from Norfolk yesterday after 8 nights, not a drop of rain during that time and mostly sunny.

When I get to Cornwall, the days are going to be 22 hours long with a minimum temperature of 32 degrees, and 23 degrees in the sea. My pitch will be dead flat, well drained, and surrounded by a garden or red roses. The caravan next door will have two voluptuous blonde twins and their caravan will require fixing at least four times a day. The price of fuel will begin to fall again and the site will deliver free pasties daily.

Where in Cornwall, we leave for Exeter on 25th, and move onto St Mawes on 30th for three weeks. I have been looking at he long range weather as far as that can be trusted, and July looks promising.

Tell me about it we just come back from Thirsk red hot lovely site and now it is six weeks to we travel down t cornwall down to St Ives to on the Friday of shutdown on the 22nd so if you see a white caravan driving down that way that will be me !! :woohoo:

Just had 2 weeks in Cornwall, first week at Chacewater Park really good value at £89. Second week at Gwithian farm not so sure about that one. Weather ok until last weekend but the trip back up the A30 was a pig.
Another thing we were struck by was on Chacewater it was adult only, most people seemed to be older age group making use of the special offer. The vast majority of people were really friendly and would stop and have a chat or say hello.
The people on Gwithian were totally different very few would say hello or whatever I wonder if it is an age thing?

TheDoog. Interesting comments and they somehwat mirror my take on things. In the twenty years or so we have been caravanning there has been a marked change in the attitude of caravanners to other caravanners. In the early days, I would go for a barrel of water to return to the question "where have you been all this time". Well, talking of course. Had more converssation over the stand pipe than I have over the bar. As you say, people would stop and chat, even if its a quick good morning. I found now that many of them even avoid eye contact and Im not the only one to have noticed.
I know I shouldnt generalise, but I found motorhomers very much aloof, whilst tent campers are glad of any contact. Caravanners are hit and miss, either they wont talk or they wont shut up. Its the old Monty Pythons syndrome, I look up to him but I look down on him.
I cant put my finger on why this seems to be happening, but i do yearn for the old days and a 90 minute barrel fill.

Same as you Thingy, but also depends on the type of site your on. Small cl / cs and found people normally fine , but on bigger site, the invisability cloak comes on, people are will to chat at the water point, but are not willing to help get your orange cap out of the CDP.
