Through France to Spain

Hi All. We are off to Spain for the winter ( La Manga ) and wonder if anyone out there can help with overnight stops close to tha motorways. The route is from Calais via Clermont-Ferrand Narbonne and the A7. We are looking to take 6 days to drive the route so any help in planning the trip or alternative route would be great. We leave on the 1st October. Thanks Rod

We stay at Beaune,Macon or Chaumont en route to Barcelona if they are on your route.

Beware of bogus drug enforcement officers as our friends were stopped near Madrid in Feb and during a "search" all their money and some jewellery were taken

Hi, have a look at the route Calais, poitiers, St jean de Luz, then via Pamplona Zaragoza and tereul to Valencia. You will find it not far off a straght line and it avoids Madrid, barcelona and other potential trouble spots. 4land our autoroute virtually all the way.

Open all year sites Poitiers, St jean de Luz, Savinan (calatayud) manzanera and navajas just inland from valencia and easy to la manga.

Ideall go into Spain sunday morning with very few HGvs and your main problem will be boredom on the excellent mut empty roads.

We've done this route 5 years now, after trying the Celrmont Ferrand, Perpignan Barcelona route.
