toilet chemicals

I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but what is the best toilet chem's to use, I have been using thetfords blue and pink additives but they just don't seem to work at any great speed. please tell me what you use and how does it compere to the standard issue blue and pink, cost and speed it works, smell etc.

Hi Karl,

Exactly what do you expect the toilet chemicals to do?

The pink liquid is really just a surfactant and fragrance to help rinse the toilet bowl and leave a fresh smell behind.

The blue liquid (or green if you go the full biological route) comprise a heavy duty fragrance, surfactants to keep the interior clean, and chemicals or biological agents to dissolve any solids and keep gas production to a minimum.

But you should be aware that "Blue" needs to be replaced after 4 or 5 days, "Green" after 3 days - and only if you added the correct amount of additive in the first place.

If you use the toilet for "bowel movements" then you should be dosing at the recommended levels, and replacing at the right time interval.

If you only use the toilet for #1's, then we've found that you can reduce the dosing level by 50% and still retain good control for the 3 to 5 days.

Without wishing to be too graphic, there is also the fact that the most recent number twos won't have had much time to break down before emptying.

Thetford do a more expensive paper which is said to break down more quickly.

Hi Karl

Please read the thread in This Section on ..Another question? Re cassette loo and chemicals ....it may answer some of your quiries.

The granular product does break down the waste and quite quickly too.
