How come the toilet in my '97 Avondale Mayfly only flushes with EHU ? It has always been like this since I bought it 2 years ago and because we've only used sites with EHUs we've not thought any more about it but would now like to use sites with few facilities (so no hook up) but find the toilet does not flush. Have checked the fuse and that seems ok.

Any ideas please?

At a guess I'd say that your leisure battery is discharged Rosemary. Try your 12 volt lights or awning lights without EHU to find out if they come on. This will determine if the battery is the problem.

Although I thought of that myself, I bought the battery brand new after buying the caravan - there is a charger unit - the charge is up around 13 - and all 12v stuff work perfectly.

I'm scratching my head!
