Toilet flushing problem

Hi, my names John Swapp and we purchased a Hymer 544 from a friend about a year ago. It's been a great buy as we can now "just up sticks" and go anywhere we want to. Living in Scotlan, we have more access for "wild camping and to this end, I've fitted an extra leisure battery of 100AH. This enables us to stick around the same place for at least a couple of days and have no worries about running out of power. Have fitted a reversing camera and reversing sensors myself and these work a treat! Have had only one problem with it and that was the Thetford type "C" toilet ceased flushing whilst I was away. Found out that this type of toilet works off the main domestic pump (after looking all over to see where it was hidden!). When the flush is operated, it connects a small microswitch which operates a solenoid valve and also a relay. The solenoid valve and relay can be accessed by lifting out the toilet roll container. I noticed that the solenoid valve was giving a "firm clunk" when the flush was operated but the relay which brings in the main pump was not functioning. A new 12 Volt 30 Amp relay was purchased off Ebay and that did the trick. All ok now and ready for our trip to the Isle of Arran in a couple of days

Hi John, and welcome.
Thanks for explaining your problem and its solution. That's just the kind of thing we need to see, because sometime, someone else will have the same problem. I'VE MOVED your post over to the Tech section, and given it a title referring to the specific issue. That way it will be easier to find for anyone who needs it.
