On a side note....

Yesterday I went to rotate my car tyres and forgot that this car has different size nuts than my previous one and I don't have a proper alloy socket head - 17mm.

So I used a cheap one I had and used before but forgot it wasn't that great. Because it had a 1/4" head I also had to use the cheap extension bar. In loosening the first nut the extension bar snapped and also stuck in the socket head. Snookered.

I've now ordered a proper 1/2" alloy socket head. Too late as usual 🙄
Not sure what you mean by "Alloy" socket head.

Thanks, I didn't realise that is what they were called. Every day is a school day.
I didn’t realise until two years ago when I converted the Kia from gunge/compressor to space saver. The wrench that came was rubbish and the cars own was a fixed length too short for any decent leverage if wife or daughter had a puncture. So when I googled for wrench and socket these alloy protection types came up.

Just seen youtube video on Australian crash where driver lost control because alloy wheel on caravan fell apart. Never explained why.

If you have alloy wheels especially make sure they torque correctly and also inspect wheel regularly for fine cracks .
NB alloy wheels and steel spare have different torque settings. My alloy were higher than steel. See caravan manual.

Recently replaced tires. Good thing I checked them before fitting wheels. 1st tire was correct load rating(102), 2nd was lot lower (86).

On offer at one of the German Grocers at the moment.
I noticed the three sockets and the torque wrench today, good prices.

The vacuum is a good buy, might pass by and look as I’m not keen on using the Dyson cordless in case I should damage it.

Our Dyson V6 handheld has lived the caravan for years. Specifically designed for dog hair removal. And it still performs
Our Dyson V8 Advanced cordless can be used as a hand held but it’s not as convenient as the old DC33 upright was, as that could sit outside the car, and its tools could reach inside in the nooks and crannies. The V8’s motor, collector is bulkier and I wouldn’t want to risk dropping it on the drive, or knocking anything on the cars dashboard, or instrument panel.

No issue with our corded Dyson that we had, but after not even 2 years our cordless Dyson V15 has to be rated as one of out worst vacuum buys. One day it works great and the next it hardly sucks up anything even though it has had a good cleaning. We even replaced the filters.

Now the Boost does not work and Medium is pathetic. I have stripped it, clean everything and still same hassle, one day okay on Medium, but no Boost. Should have bought the Miele cordless. OH not very happy. Not sure how long the guarantee is for?

Our daughter had a corded upright that started to play up just outside its 3 year warranty. So she phoned Dyson about a repair. The wait for collection was about four weeks then repair and return time. She said that was unacceptable. Next day a new corded upright was delivered. That’s the only problem anyone in our family has had with Dyson over many years. Surprised you have not been in contact with them over the issues with yours.

When we first got the unit, within the first 3 months the whole head had to be replaced due to it cracking. On checking the length of the warranty all it shows is expiry date is 00/00/0000? It was bought in late 2023 so not yet 2 years old.

OH uses the Dyson cordless 4 - 5 times a week and about every 3 - 4 weeks she uses the Miele Blizzard and it is amazing the amount of "dirt" it still picks up despite regular vacuuming with the Dyson V15.

Although we do like the idea of the cordless vacuum cleaners, they are not a patch on a proper vacuum cleaner. Even when cleaning the inside of the car I prefer to drag down the Miele machine for a proper clean.

Don't get me wrong the cordless is great for the quick hoovering especially after a certain fellow with four legs comes back from his walk i the park. :ROFLMAO:

I think that's always going to be the case. Although cordless tools and appliances are getting better and better, a plug in appliance generally runs between 10 and 20 times the voltage of its cordless equivalent. That means 10 to 20 times the power for the same current. Battery's small enough to be considered portable have limited capacity so you can't just ramp up the current to compensate.

........ or brings in a stick from the garden and chews it up in the living room, or leaves bits of bone scattered around, or decides to shred the supposedly indestructible toy you gave them 15 minutes ago! 🤦‍♂️
