I tow my 1700kg van with a Shogun, so you will be looking at a fair size vehicle, Kia Sorento? Discovery? Range Rover? Suspect others will be along with some more suggestions/

All going to depend on budget, age, level of comfort and kit. Whatever anyone advises will be what they have/had and it'll be the best thing since sliced bread (which we don't have in this house)

We tow our 1800kg van with a pick up because of the need for carrying 5 and a big boot space is essential. Not first choice on many people's list of tow cars. We are both happy with stability and performance when towing and it pootles about quite happily when not towing too.

I had a terrano as my first tow car, I got rid because it drank fuel like no tomorrow on my commute to work; but it was a good solid tow car, solid, stable and heavy. Good fun to drive. If I remeber the kerb weight of my model was around the 2000kg mark.

I think you are in Disco, Shogun territory if you want a good safety margin and a really good tow car. The Kia or Hyundia would manage it but no great safety margin from my point of view.

We are towing a 2016 Swift Conqueror 645 (MPTLM 1900Kg) with our auto 2014 Sorento. Good stable outfit, nearly 100% ratio but loaded sensibly and carefully never been an issue. Excellent towcar. The latest incarnation has really raised their game..
