I am considering buying a Citroen C5 HDI 2.2 VTR Estate on an 03 plate, not sure yet if manual or auto box, to tow a 1300Kg rig. Has anyone any experience of towing with this car with either option of gearbox? I heard a rumour that the auto box should be avoided for towing, reason not given. Any truth in this?

Hi Hugh

I do not have any first hand experience of the Citroen c5 But a friend of mine has one and automatic he says it is excelent. on a car this new an auto is by far the best as it is allways in the right gear at the right time, with the weight of our van should be no problem. I think The Caravan Club gave the C5 a good write up some time ago, check with them if in doubt.
