Towcar / Estate

I've re posted this here from the new members section:

I am looking to sell my motorhome and purchase a caravan & tow car. The caravan I like has maximum weight of 1375kgs. I would welcome any help / advice on a tow car. I would want an estate car, I have been looking through varioys brochures, but any views from caravanerswill be of a great help.

I have towed with a Ford mondeo Estate for the last 3 years with no problems at all.

Does 40+ to the gall solo and about 32 to the gall towing its a 2 ltr 130bhp diesal model . I assume the new 2008 model would be even better .

I had a new model Mondeo estate last October and towed all this year with it - dream to tow with, good fuel consumption both towing and solo - loads of room in the boot. Only downside is that I've had a few problems with it with irritating little issues such as it came with no bonnet release catch, the wheel arch liner fell off etc etc - nothing too major but irritating all the same! I tow an Abbey GTS Vogue with it.

HI David re tow cars, If you are looking for a deal on tow cars I personnaly can recommend the Citroen C5 2.2 HDI, I tow a Baily champaign 1360kg with no problems & average 30/32 mpg towing,40/45 solo. They are a great seconhand buy & are well appointed with self levelling suspension cruise control ect.Not a good buy new due to their depreciation rate though

I agree with Tony - I also tow with a Citroen C5, but the 138bhp 2litre model. Best to go for is the facelift model from 2005 and the exclusive with xenon headlights and many more goodies. The self leveling suspension is fabulous.
